Happy New Year to everyone.

I have now just one track to record for the 'Uncharted Territory' album. There is a bit of remixing to do but I am hoping the album will be available by the end of January. Some tracks are already available on 7 Digital.

I have also started work on an 18 track compilation album. I have backing tracks ready (and currently being rehearsed) for a live set which will feature all these songs.

All positions unchanged since 26th October apart from 'Unsure/Offshore (where did your job go?)' which is straight in at number 5, displacing Freedom 2 B Ourselves.

After shopping around a bit I have decided to make my MP3 downloads available through 7 Digital.

You can still buy my physical CDs through my Northern Soundscapes site.

Let's make sure we get something in the Hot 100 soon!

P.S. the remaining 9 tracks (there will be 15 tracks in total) for the new album (working title 'Surburban Survivors') have now been finalised and many midi BTs are now available.

I am hoping to have the new album available in Q1 2010.

New album being recorded

I have now sold some tracks via the Download Centre! Also I have achieved 'Honorable Mention' (in Unisong) for England (With One Voice)' and I have had a couple of reviews for 'An English Voice'.

A new album (the seventh) is now underway. Six new songs have now been recorded at NorthernSoundscapes Studios in August, and these will be remixed and mastered at Thin Ice Studios in Ilfracombe. I am working on the lyrics and backing tracks of the next 6 songs.

The process (started on 'An English Voice') of gradually re-working selected old stuff from late 70s/early 1980s (e.g. 'Out of My Mind') is being continued. The album will also feature a lot of completely new material.

The new album is less directly political than 'An English Voice'. It doesn't explore any nationalistic issues but instead focuses on individuals and how the modern world affects them.
It is basically a concept album about the mounting suburban anger over issues like 'offshoring', the 'dumbing-down' of culture and the recession. There will be some new 'You Tube' Videos for the album.

I have now implemented E-Commerce throughout the Northernsoundscapes site so you should now be able to shop using Roman Cart and Paypal. You can also opt to pay by cheque.

T Shirts and other merchandise will be available before long.

The updated version of 'Music For Guitar And Synthesiser' , which features some new tracks, is also now available.

'An English Voice' now available

I had to do a few final mixes etc. , but 'An English Voice' is now in production. I have been pressing copies for the last week, and also have finished the lyric booklet.

Next recordings: I will be doing a few new instrumentals for 'Music for Guitar and Synthesiser' , which will be re-released in the Autumn.

An English Voice - album in final stages

Just letting you know that all 15 tracks for 'An English Voice' are now completed. They may be tweaked slightly over the next week - but I am also now doing the covers and the album should be available w/c 26th May!

Quite a lot of sample tracks are on the new page on http://www.northernsoundscapes.co.uk/ devoted to the album. Of , course , most people are probably familiar with tracks like 'England (With One Voice) , and 'Freedom (2 B Ourselves)' as they have been on You Tube for a while.

I am hoping to make the CD available in a few shops (by the way - we also accept PayPal these days).

There's a lot of new stuff , but I have also revitalised some pretty old material on this album.

Listen to 'Out of My Mind' - which was on the old 'Everyone Else' EP in 1978.

Also listen to 'Downward Path' - and old portastudio favourite from the early 80s. It describes economic decay - and is as relevant now as it was then. Try 'On the Radio' - another early 80s track.
